On May 23, 2026, Wild Care Nepal celebrated World Turtle Day through a community based conservation and awareness program in Udayapur district. The event aimed to promote the conservation of turtles and tortoises, one of the world’s most threatened vertebrate groups. A total of 36 participants took part in activities including participatory mapping of tortoise presence, information sharing and conservation awareness presentations. The program helped strengthen community engagement and enhance local understanding of tortoise conservation. We sincerely thank the Division Forest Office, Udayapur, Triveni, Maruhaharit Community Forest and Paluwatar Community Forest for their support. We also appreciate the efforts of Wild Care Nepal’s team members Bishal Bhandari, Ashish Pokharel and Sanjib Thokar in successfully conducting the program.
