Subodh K. Upadhyaya, PhD

Prof. Dr. Subodh Kumar Upadhyaya is a Professor Emeritus at the Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University, with expertise in molecular biology, biotechnology, and conservation genetics. He holds a PhD from Leiden University in the Netherlands, an M.E. in Biotechnology from BITS Pilani, India, and a Master’s degree in Zoology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. With more than three decades of experience in teaching and research, his work has covered a wide range of areas, including biotechnology, wildlife conservation, genetics, and health sciences.

He has published around a dozen research and review papers and has been involved in scientific publishing in various capacities. He has served as a reviewer, advisory board member, editorial board member, and editor for more than 10 international journals. At Kathmandu University, he has also served as the Head of the Department of Biotechnology and as a member of the University’s Academic Council. Throughout his career, he has been involved in scientific research, and played a pivotal role in establishing biotechnology and bioinformatics program in Nepal. He is also a life member of several professional organizations and has contributed to the academic and professional development of biotechnology through his teaching, research, and involvement in the scientific community.
