Rama Mishra, PhD

Dr. Rama Mishra is a conservation biologist and the Founding President and Executive Director of Wild Care Nepal, a non-profit organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation in Nepal. She holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, along with specialized training in conservation communication and education. With over 15 years of experience in wildlife conservation, she has worked across Nepal on a diverse range of species, including Asian elephants, fishing cats, leopards, tigers, pangolins, and gharials.

Her conservation approach focuses on protecting biodiversity while recognizing and addressing the needs and well-being of local communities living alongside wildlife. She has led and contributed to research, conservation, and community-based initiatives, and has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed scientific articles. She is a member of the IUCN SSC Cat and Otter Specialist Groups and has contributed to global species assessments, particularly for threatened wild cats.
