Wild Care Nepal successfully conducted aSkill Training Workshop on Human-Elephant Coexistence (HECx) in Madi Municipality, located in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park. The program was attended by 20 participants from local buffer zone communities. We were honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Madi Municipality and the Conservation Officer of Chitwan National Park, whose participation added value to the program. The workshop featured interactive sessions on elephant ecology, history, and behaviour, aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge and awareness of human-elephant coexistence. A variety of learning approaches were used, including lectures, participant experience-sharing sessions, and educational video screenings. By improving understanding of elephant behaviour, the workshop sought to promote safer coexistence and reduce human-elephant conflict in the region. Participants are expected to share the knowledge gained with their communities and schools, further promoting Human-Elephant Coexistence practices in the area.
