Photo Story – Nature Exploration and Basic Wildlife Survey Skill

On January 16, 2024 we co-hosted a One Day Nature Exploration and training on Basic Wildlife Survey Skill in Jhapa district of Southeast Nepal. The program was in collaboration with Amphibians and Reptiles Conservation Society of Nepal (ARCO-Nepal) – a pioneering institution for the research and conservation of herpetofauna in Nepal and it’s associated wings, Turtle Rescue and Conservation Centre (TRCC) and TRCC-Turtle’s Club. The training was filled with 13 enthusiastic participants representing different institution and faculties. The topics covered during the trainings were basic GPS usage (marking coordinates, navigating and locating waypoints), birdwatching techniques, sign surveys (traces, markings, burrows and scats), herpetofauna survey (searching, handling and identifying), field data collection methods, field etiquettes and ethical conduct of a researcher. The training took place in Telpani Community Forest, Mechinagar Municipality-03, Jhapa.
